SEAMLESS and interactive LIVE SHOPPING

E-commerce

After taking off in Asia, shoppable video has caught the attention of retailers and eCommerce platforms around the world.

If you’ve looked into adding shoppable videos to your marketing strategy, you may have been tempted to start with the social platforms you already use-platforms like Instagram and TikTok. But after an attempt or two, you’ll quickly discover that there are functionality gaps these platforms simply can’t fill.

You need a solution that integrates with your existing apps and systems, offers powerful and intuitive functionality, and gives you ownership over your customer data, all while offering a fun, engaging, and uninterrupted shopping experience for your viewers.

With Livery, it’s seamless. Your customers can join a livestream,  discover a product on air, and place an order for it, all without shuffling between windows. Our solution offers low latency, automatic sync, and a host of  standard interactive commerce features that allow you to easily add game mechanics, run auctions, offer time-limited items, and much, much more. With Livery, anyone can enter the future of online shopping.

Hepsiburada

The Turkish e-commerce market leader, Hepsiburada (which translates to “everything is here”) started to use Livery Video & interactions to create an online shopping channel.

Through Livery Video, Hepsiburada conducts their frequent live shows where they review and promote technology, cosmetics, toys, and more to thousands of engaged viewers.

While enjoying the show, viewers can purchase the promoted products directly within the video stream. Thanks to Livery’s syncing technology, the video and interactions stay in near-perfect timing–no matter how heavily shoppers interact with the video, they won’t miss a thing.

Once the show has ended, all on-stream data is Hepsiburada’s to keep and analyze, giving them an opportunity to learn and adapt to their shoppers over time.

eLuscious - De Wijnbeurs

De Wijnbeurs, one of eLuscious’ leading e-commerce brands in the Benelux, organized the National Wine Quiz livestream in November of 2021.  The livestream was presented by two well-known hosts (TV presenter, Astrid Joosten, and radio DJ, Sven Ornelis). The quiz pitted two in-studio teams against each other in the battle to win.

Before the big event, at-home participants were able to order their own wine tasting box that arrived with six (blinded) tubes. There were 2,300 people tuned in from home to watch the 1.5-hour show and interact in real time. While the in-studio teams navigated the quiz, the at-home audience was right in the action–they answered questions about the wines they were tasting and clicked their best guesses to wine-related quiz questions right alongside each other.

The livestream game show was powered by the Livery platform’s signature setup–a combination of Livery’s low-latency streaming capabilities with added interactive layers placed directly on top of the stream. De Wijnbeurs used the CORE and GAMIFICATION interactions to create the quiz and trivia questions, and the LEADERBOARD interaction to create some extra excitement–participants could see their rank in real-time and watch the ultimate prize winners rise to the top. De Wijnbeurs also used the COMMERCE interaction to allow participants to order additional wine during and after the show. This way the quiz was not only an event but also converted to new sales, and improved the tasting profiles of the customers to better target them with offers in the future.

Hobbii

Hobbii, the Danish one-stop-shop for yarn lovers, offers their community weekly free-to-play bingo games right within the Hobbii app. These livestreamed events drive engagement and give their most loyal customers access to exclusive ‘Super Deals.’ Each week, thousands of simultaneous players compete head-to-head for a chance to win branded prizes from the Hobbii store like yarn bags, wool or knitting needles.

Hobbii’s weekly bingo sessions are roughly 40-minutes of gameplay powered by Livery’s low-latency streaming platform. Each stream has a host on live video with an overlay that showcases the bingo cards. Livery keeps every player on the same frame at the same time ensuring a fun and fair game every time.

Due to the initial success in Denmark, Hobbii has taken their weekly bingo game global–they’ve expanded access to their live bingo sessions to players in Germany, the US and the UK, leveraging the scaling power of Livery.

Ali Gala Alibaba’s 11.11 (Global Shopping Festival)

Livery makes it possible to host livestream shopping events like only the big guys once could. Today, smaller sized SMBs can take advantage of the space and convert sales like never before..

Since 2009, Alibaba has hosted  an annual Shopping Festival to commemorate Singles’ Day (Nov. 11). What had started as a one-day  sale to encourage single people to shop for themselves has ballooned into a virtual international shopping festival that spans a 3-day window.

Each year, the event kicks off with the Ali Gala, a livestreamed entertainment event featuring artists like Pharell, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift. In 2020, 11.11 broke all records with a gross merchandise value (total turnover) of U$ 74B (yes, billions!).

Key of “Double Eleven” is the combination of live entertainment (artist performances, fashion shows, games, etc) with interactivity. They describe it as combining the best “elements of a pop concert with a variety show, the New Year’s Eve countdown and the Home Shopping Network.” This exciting hybrid event offers viewers a seamless entertainment experience with the option to buy the products featured in a show or endorsed by celebrities in real-time.

Alibaba truly is a leader in interactive video. By adding e-commerce overlays to livestreams, Alibaba enables consumers to buy the products they’re seeing displayed on their screen instantly.

Continuous innovation is what keeps viewers coming back for more each year. Alibaba developed their streaming platform in-house, but thankfully, you don’t have to. With Livery, you can start streaming in big-business level quality minutes. Alibaba has shown the way, are you next? With Livery in your toolkit, the sky’s the limit for your next  livestream. Stream an event, make it shoppable, create games, offer discounts, and much more–all without deteriorating the user’s video quality or experience.

We combine low-latency video, synchronicity, and interactivity (e.g. a buy or add-to-cart button) all in one.

Are you into hosting big live events or other types of live experiences? Check out our example configuration to see how you could replicate an Alibaba-style live video project, or customize your own configuration.

If there’s one type of content that needs low latency video, this is it! Livery offers standard tools to quickly build and scale your own game or trivia show, or you can work with your development team using our APIs. Whether you’re thinking about launching your own trivia or game show app, or want to simply revive a classic format, Livery is here to help.

Dutch Dance Quiz

In cooperation with the creative agency, First Day of Spring, we streamed 3 episodes of the Dutch Dance Quiz–a video event that took viewers on a trip down memory lane through the rich 30 years of Dutch dance music. Viewers could tune into the quiz at either dutchdancequiz.nl or TV 538.

During each episode, Martin Garrix, Joris Voorn, Chuckie, and Erick E popped questions to the viewers. A panel that included dance industry legends like Dano, The Darkraver, Roog, and Michel de Hey played on-set from the green room. As viewers tuned in to watch, they also got to test their dance knowledge by playing along from home in real time via an interactive 2nd screen (such as their mobile phone or tablet). Each participant got a chance to win exclusive Dutch Dance prizes.

Livery powered the video end-to-end using an on-site encoder and a web player on the DDQ website. As an added bonus, the event’s sponsors, Nationale Nederland and Philips won gold in the ‘specialized sponsor platform’ category at the annual SponsorRingen event for the project.

Lift Kvis

Lift Kvis is a popular live game show app in the Eastern European market. Thousands of players tune into its four games per week to win cash prizes. Lift Kvis has chosen Livery as its partner to provide a secure and stable streaming solution.

During the Lift Kvis live game show, the host asks a trivia question that viewers can answer in real time. The host can see the responses, viewer information, engagement statistics, and more on the autocue (teleprompter) and react accordingly without missing a beat. This is a perfect example of a full feedback loop.

“We have searched for a lot of different solutions but none gave us interactivity, stability and quality as the Livery streaming solution. Their hardware encoder together with reliable CDN and their team expertise gives us the confidence to focus on product and content.” Nemanja Milic – Co-Founder of Lift Kvis.

Business events

In response to COVID19, thousands of events over the last few years were forced to move online. What started as a temporary fix has become the new normal–virtual events are here to stay.

Today,  professionals spend hours of each day on video calls. These group video streams have become commonplace and boring. Thus, if you want to keep professional viewers engaged, a simple webinar or livestream no longer cuts it.

Livery is proud to power a new breed of live business sessions that go way beyond a standard webinar: receive and respond to real time feedback, engage remote teams, stimulate participation with game mechanics, keep them focused with gamification, a live Q&A and more. Online business events are here to stay. Are you ready to take them to the next level?

Live Legends

Long-term Livery customer Live Legends participated in the Livery Interactive early access program. Based on their feedback, the Livery team created a stats API, exposing interaction data in real time.

This live interaction data can be injected–in real time–into the virtual studio and rendered using the Unreal Engine. This integration creates opportunities to immediately use the data in conditional and creative ways, (for example, fireworks were triggered in the video feed when more than 100 viewers voted YES).

Clever use of the data generated by viewers had an immediate and direct impact on the visual appearances of the ultra-low latency live stream. If you’d like to create a similar livestream experience, check out our mockup of their configuration and see how you can make it happen.

Horecava Live tasting event

In 2021, Horecava, (the largest Food & Beverage trade show in the Netherlands), launched online B2B Horecava Tastings. To participate, viewers ordered a tasting box in advance of the show that was delivered to their homes (which completely sold out in just one day!)

During the livestreamed event, a presenter guided participants through the product tasting and asked them questions about the products in real time. In the app, viewers answered questions, rated the products, and participated in a trivia quiz with prizes.

The data was stored and was available to use after the show had ended, to identify the most interesting business leads for the companies that supplied the products in the tasting box.

The event was exciting, engaging, profitable, and an incredible learning and data-gathering opportunity. This offers a great example of how you can go beyond a simple live stream to create an immersive experience.

This is the future of online events with Livery.

Entertainment & events

Artists, venues, and organizers have been remarkably resilient in the face of pandemic shutdowns and cancellations. Over the last few years, we’ve seen a historical and innovative shift to online and hybrid event formulas. These experiments have revealed the potential for future live events with a fully global audience.

Livestreaming removes traditional barriers allowing you to reach people around the world. Moving events online offers new opportunities for seamless ticketing and additional forms of monetization. Most importantly, online live events create new ways to turn a passive audience into hyper engaged fans. Livestreamed events done right will inspire innovative talent to take their shows to the next level by making users a tangible part of the experience. Livery provides the tools, you create the magic.

SELECT, REACT AND ENJOY

OTT & Social video

TV withstood disruption longer than other media industries, but thanks to the rise of Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney+, industry change is in full swing.

Today, the space feels unsettled, and many incumbent networks and new entrants alike are looking for ways to differentiate themselves and solidify their niche in this emerging space. As such, the rights to live content (like sports and entertainment) are more valuable than ever.

To stay relevant, passive streaming won’t be enough for long. The way we see it, an engaged audience is the future.

Instead of shoveling the rights to your content over to 3rd party social video platforms, now it’s easier than ever to keep things under your own roof. Start streaming, augmenting, engaging, and monetizing your content on your terms using any of your owned and operated sites and apps.

An idea to consider

Social streaming

What’s next? Next to the major streaming platforms like Twitch and Youtube live, smaller platforms oriented to a specific niche market will become more common. This has to do with organisations like Livery who are able to provide all necessary building blocks for a social streaming platform. Allowing the customers to focus on the best possible experience for their target audience, without thinking about technical challenges around video delivery or the necessary cloud encoding framework.

Within a view clicks, Livery’s video platform is combined with his interaction platform. Allowing our customers to features we know from the major platforms (Twitch, Facebook or Instagram live) like; Chat, Live Reactions, Polls and more to their platform.

The open API allows customers to build their own front-end experience and control Livery’s backend the way they think would be best.

SYNC & REGULATIONS

News & finance

In today’s hyperconnected world, having instant access to breaking news and market updates is crucial for professionals anywhere.

This is why low latency and synchronization matter in financial news–access to critical information before everyone else creates an opportunity for exploitation. Today, a few seconds of delay in a livestream between two devices can have catastrophic consequences, as we’ll learn next.

Livery case

Bank of England

“The UK’s financial watchdog has launched an investigation into a security breach at the Bank of England that allowed Flash traders to get an 8-second head start due to an insecure audio feed of Mark Carney’s market-moving press conferences.” Source: The Guardian

Livery to the rescue! Security is critical for many livestreaming use cases. Content providers need to be able to rely on their video solution to deliver live video fairly and consistently across platforms and conditions. When trading, money, or prizes are involved, inconsistencies give motivated viewers a leg up on the competition..

Livery created a solution for the Bank of England to level the playing field and prevent premature “leaks.” To ensure fairness and equal access, Livery encrypts the video buffer on the end-user’s device while maintaining a fixed latency. This configuration guarantees fairness and transparency.

SHOW ME THE MONEY

Betting & gambling

In betting and gambling, time is of the essence. To ensure fair play, everyone needs to have access to the same information at the same time. You can’t afford for your stream to be out of sync on different devices.
An idea to consider
The future is here. For online betting, latency and security are crucial.  Livery’s syncing technology can handle it. By encrypting the video buffer on the end-users’ devices and syncing the stream, Livery is able to direct all users to the same video frame at the same time while simultaneously preventing security breaches. Hackers will not be able to access the video information before any of the other players can, keeping the betting process fair and secure.  The ULL-CMAF based video technology allows betting companies to scale to thousands (or millions) of concurrent players globally. The high-quality video stream brings the casino experience to mobile devices like never before. Are you into betting & gambling? Formula 1

F1TV is an incredible example of the potential for sports, low latency, and interactivity. The F1TV network lets you watch an F1 race from home with a richness that rivals even the most captivating in-person experience.

Thanks to F1TV’s interactive features, you’re able to switch cameras or watch multiple cameras at the same time. An interactive layer on top of the video stream allows you to pull up statistics and other data about the general race and specific racers on the racetrack. The use of multiple audio tracks (languages) makes the experience accessible for a large and diverse international audience.

This impressive array of features smashes the competition, but just scratches the surface of what’s possible. F1TV has laid out the blueprint for how to bring sports streaming into the future.

This is especially true for eSports, where data and video feeds can be provided directly from the game engine.

To make this interactive livestream experience work, you need a synchronized, feature-rich platform with low risk of lag time. If, like us, you’re inspired by F1, you’re in luck. With Livery, it’s simpler than ever to launch low latency, synchronized, interactive livestreams. Any league, club or network can start small and scale to any capacity its fans will tolerate.
